Gestalt Therapy

Lose your mind and come to your senses...

-Fritz Pearls-

Gestalt is a German word, roughly translatable as the 'whole form' or 'pattern'. The aim of Gestalt therapy is to develop self-awareness and help us become more fully who we have the potential to be. Gestalt is an experiential therapy: it does not rely on already-made interpretations and explanations of 'why' something is the way it is, but encourages us to pay attention to 'how' we feel, think and sense, moment by moment.

Learning to be present to what's going on within us, we can start to recognise what gets in the way of fulfilling contact with the world, and find the courage to experiment with ways of being that make us feel more authentically alive.

 Here and Now

In Gestalt, the relationship between the client and therapist is one of the most important aspects of the therapy process. Therapists' key task is to create a safe atmosphere that enables clients to identify and explore their current thoughts, feelings, and perceptions, experiment with new behaviors, and engage in open dialogue.
